We are back to one of our favourite restaurants again - Red Orche Grill. Excellent food and great service and world class dining. We seem to be seated at the same table everytime. I am not complaining, as we have a view to the River Torrens.
It is always nice to walk around Adelaide's beautiful Botanic Gardens. I slowly made my way to the restaurant located by the lake. We arrived at midday and there were quite a few patrons already.
There was definitely a lot more people dining at the Botanic Gardens Restaurant this time. A lot of them were businessmen and a lot of them were not dining from the Festival of Food menu. It was good to see that the food still arrived in a timely manner despite how busy it was.
The Playford Restaurant has always been one of my top listed restaurants. Just before I went on holidays, I decided to dine here again. I have forgotten to mention in my last post, this year you no longer need to hang out by your letter box waiting for the special piece of paper, the Festival of Food voucher. There is an app which can be downloaded onto your smart phone and it works just the same. When you arrive at the restaurant hand your device to a friendly staff member and they will enter a code and your stamp is redeemed from that restaurant. A very clever idea.
Another year has gone by and it's that time again, yes it's Festival of Food season again. This is The River Cafe, and not the Riverside restaurant - located in The intercontinental hotel across the river. Some people get it a little confused. I have been to River Cafe numerous times in the past few years and have enjoyed my experience every time. This time was no exception.
Yes it is almost that time of the year for Festival of Food again, but this time Windy Point Cafe has proudly brought to you the festival of food a little early. I do advise to book, as they can get quite busy.
My barramundi fillet was cooked to perfection. I could not fault this dish at all, the skin was crunchy and the meat was soft. I loved the quinoa salad and the chicken floss.
I remembered coming to Botanic Gardens Restaurant for FOF last year. It didn't seem that long ago. First of all, the menu on the FOF voucher was different to the one that we got in the restaurant on the day. The choices were definitely less and we weren't offered any items from the alarcarte menu.
The restaurant looked exactly the same as last year's, menu had not changed either. However the prices of wine had been marked up incredibly. Even the sides were dearer than last year's.
My readers contacted me and asked about the Botanic Gardens Restaurant post for the FOF, oops I had completely forgotten. I have been here for breakfast before and remembered it being pretty good. FOF was no exception. This was the only restaurant that provides lunch using the FOF voucher and also on a Saturday.
World class dining at an excellent location and amazing views!!
This restaurant is located at one of Adelaide's unique location, Windy Point. Hence the name Windy Point restaurant. It is located approximately 15 minutes away from the city if you're driving. Do allow yourself sometime to drive up to the restaurant, as the roads are quite windy, but it is a lovely drive up the hill, with excellent scenery on the way. Now don't get mixed up, there is a Windy Point Cafe and a Windy Point restaurant. This time I shall tell you my experience at the Windy Point Restaurant.
World class fine dining!!
This has been one of my favourite restaurants for a long long time. It is located at the River Torrens, very conveniently location. There are plenty of parking spaces, however make sure you collect a sheet from the entrance and place on your dashboard before you dine. If you don't you could potentially receive a fine. The parking spaces are for patrons at Red Ochre and also River Cafe. Both restaurants share the same entrance, River Cafe is located on the lower level whereas you need to take the stairs on your left to Red Ochre.
Tasty lamb skewers!
It was absolutely pouring with rain, but that didn't stop us from going out to eat. Panacea is located on Halifax Street, with parking spaces right in front of the restaurant or in fact all along Halifax Street. We had the Festival of Food voucher, we had to book beforehand of course. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we could smell the food. In fact it was rather smokey. I wasn't sure if the exhaust fan was working or not, the restaurant was full house.
A few hungry stomachs took us to another restaurant from the Festival of Food. The Playford Restaurant has participated in this festival for as long as I have used the voucher. It is located on the ground floor or the old Radisson Playford now called Sebel hotel. For the purpose of dining at the restaurant, we could park for free for the first three hours on the Victoria Street carpark. There is a lounge where you can have pre dinner drinks. The atmosphere was great, there was a live band on stage because it was a Saturday night.
This restaurant was not in the Festival of Food voucher last year, so we thought we will try this one out. I must say I was very disappointed with this restaurant. This one certainly doesn't compare to any other festival of food restaurants that I have been to. I was a bit confused with the cuisine, to me when you say Raffles I thought it was Singaporean. However I wasn't sure if it was Malaysian, Indonesian, Indian or a bit of everything.
Fining dining at a stunning location!!
I have reviewed this restaurant before, and it is in my top recommendations page. It still remains as one of my favourite restaurants in Adelaide. Always good food, friendly service and in a great atmosphere with the beautiful view of the River Torrens. This time I am going to review the Festival of Food at this restaurant.
We had the Festival of Foods on the Friday night, and of course we had to book beforehand as it is always busy. We were seated down at our table by a friendly staff member. Ciabatta breads with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was served whilst we were enjoying our bottle of the Yalumba cabernet sauvignon. The prices on the wine list was pretty reasonable.
