There are many cafes popping up in the eastern suburbs. Fine and Fettle is no exception, it has been open since the beginning of June. What a clever idea it is to open a cafe right next to your own gym? You can exercise and then recharge with as much delicious goodness as you want afterwards.
The cafe was bigger than I thought, architecturally designed with a timber theme, overhanging greens. Not to mention the modern lighting, a contemporary feel. There were a few small tables, benches overlooking the busy Magill Road, a communal long table with high stools and a big round table for a slightly bigger group.
The menu is divided into salads and breakfast bowls. We had an acai bowl, the amount of acai berries to fresh fruit was perfect. The sourness of the passionfruit balanced quite well with the acai berries. I loved it, freshness in a bowl.
We also tried the sweet potato rosti. It was different to what I had imagined. The rosti wasn't crunchy, I think sweet potato fritter would have been a better suited name. Nevertheless the bottom of the plate was the sweet potato rosti and covered with fresh fennel, spring onions, peas topped with a perfectly poached egg. The tiny bits of caramelised sugar lifted the whole dish. This is an interesting dish and it is not something you will often see in cafes. I enjoyed each and every bite.
What differs this cafe from the others is that a baby menu is available, so for the little ones whom can only have puree foods. Well they are available here at Fine and Fettle. I am excited that another cafe has opened up in the East. It is spacious, kid friendly and plenty of healthy items on offer. I recommend giving this cafe a try!
