Nonna and I is tucked away down a side street off the Parade. The restaurant is very cosy and you can smell the food cooking away in the kitchen. We were one of the first diners there for the night, service was amazing. As more and more diners walked in, the immaculate service continued throughout the night. Check out the beautiful in house menu!! The restaurant offers meat / seafood / pasta dishes, with vegan and vegetarian options.
Bruschetta arrived at our table, and it actually tasted much better than it looked. The tomatoes were of a funny colour but together with herbs and cheese they all went well together.
One of the specials for the night was the lobster bisque! Wow, it was absolutely amazing. It was creamy, it was hearty and I licked the bowl clean.
We ordered a couple of pasta dishes and both were so creamy. There was more than enough sauce on the plates. Piatto Dimare was more like a seafood marinara. There were chucks of seafood and even fish fillets mixed in with this amazing tomato sauce.
Veal and prawns were served on a bed of capellini. Who would of thought they would marry so well together. The prawns were perfectly cooked, broccoli, capsicum... yum!!
The servings were quite large, yes we went into the restaurant feeling hungry but we left very happy. That is the motto that Chef Khalil have adhered to.
Nonna and I is a quiet restaurant with character. It's a great place if you want a peaceful evening, to enjoy some good food and some Italian music. The pricing of each meal is definitely on the higher side, but you do get what you pay for. If you want some take away, there is also Pizza Art & I which is the grandchild to Nonna and I a few doors down.
