On a night like this is when you want some warmth in your tummy. I would highly recommend Seoul Restaurant on Hyde Street in the heart of Adelaide CBD. We have been to this restaurant on many occasions and we keep coming back. Seoul Restaurant has been around for as long as I can remember, in fact it was the first Korean restaurant open in Adelaide, and it is still standing.
The restaurant is quite small, but enough to fit a few tables and chairs. There is a great variety of items on the menu.
For starters, we ordered the kimchi pancake. Crunchy pancake base with thinly sliced kimchi. This is my favourite kimchi pancake, as a lot of restaurants do make it a little more sour.
Another delicious dish to order is the Japchae which is stir fried vegetables with clear glass noodles, completed with a soy sauce dressing. It is light and great to have with other main courses if you prefer the noodles over rice.
Hot pot dishes are popular in Korean cuisine, and it is perfect to have on a cold night like tonight. We selected the octopus hot pot. It is a spicy hot pot which consists of bulgogi beef and fresh octopus. This is cooked at the table at your leisure. Imagine beef cooked in a sesame soy sauce marinade, fresh octopus soaked in a rich spicy broth together with vegetables. You can adjust the temperature of the gas cooker to let it simmer to your liking. Yum Yum! A great dish to share.
We left the restaurant again feeling very satisfied. Seoul Restaurant is in a great location, amazing food and certainly a good place to catch up with a few friends over some hot pot dishes on a winters night.
