In the beautiful suburb of Bowden is a cafe called Jarmer's Kitchen. Chris Jarmer, a third generation chef used to have a restaurant in the David Jones right in the heart of the CBD. They have moved here for quite some time now.
Jarmer's Kitchen is a casual, but very stylish cafe. Retro lights and plants are hanging everywhere. It was very spacious and I loved the use of wide tables, plenty of room to put things on. I noticed there was a private room, great for a function. There is plenty of seating outside if you prefer the sunshine.
For lunch we ordered a couple of healthy salads. The first one consisted of mint, chipotle, leaves with feta and red quinoa. I added chicken in the salad to give it the extra protein I had wanted.
The Asian chicken salad consisted of snowpea tendrills, baby Asian leaves with thai and basil. Vermicelli noodles is a must when it comes to a Thai Asian salad. These noodles were soft but not soggy. This time the chicken was minced and mixed in with the salad which was dressed in a light tangy dressing with some sprinkled peanuts.
The salads were light, delicious, and to finish off we decided to order a couple of coffees. I must say this is one of the best coffee I have had. The milk was just sooooo smooth and the milk was at the correct temperature. We could taste the perfect amount of coffee to milk in this piccolo. I can have one or two or three of these everyday.
The service was friendly and attentive. There was a lot more that I would like to try from their menu. I think I will have to make another trip back. I highly recommend Jarmer's Kitchen to anyone. It is a hidden gem in the burbs.
