Bricks and Stones

From what I could remember, this used to be a Japanese Restaurant.  Now a cafe called 'Bricks and Stones' has opened.  You cannot see this cafe if you are coming down Unley Road, it is tucked away down Arthur Street just off the main road.  You are lucky if you can get a park on Unley Road.  I suggest parking across the street in the shopping centre complex and cross at the traffic lights.  The name of the cafe is really suited to this red brick building.

The moment we walked in, there was plenty of seating and we felt like we were surrounded by bricks and stones. It has an open area and yes it used to be a Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant here before.  The decor was simple, modern but rustic with a huge painting on the wall.

There was a good range of breakfast items to choose from.  I am a big fan of grains, therefore opted for the greens and grains dish.  I tell you, it looked pretty amazing.  I cut into the beautifully poached egg and let the yolk mix in with the greens.  Imagine green beans, broccolini, snow peas, zucchini, avocado, grains and herbs with running egg yolk.  It was devine!

I couldn't go past the menu item with mushrooms.  I loved a good mix of mushrooms on a plate.  They are one of my favourite things.  I liked the goats fetta that was used to accompany this mushroom dish, however the enoki mushrooms were raw.  In my opinion, it would have been better if it was slightly cooked.

Yes the coffee came after we got our food, the barista took time to prepare the coffee.

The cafe was very spacious and has that wow factor.  The food was impressive.  There were a few minor problems with the service but I guess they are still new.  I wouldn't mind coming back to try more of the other items.
