Auge, the Italian restaurant has gone and now it has been replaced with a new Japanese restaurant called Himeji Ramen & Izakaya. Not so new anymore as all the hype has gone. As the name suggests it is famous for its ramen, therefore I was pretty excited. It is opened by the same owner as Genki Japanese Restaurant so we expected something amazing. The moment we walked into the restaurant, we felt like we had walked into a restaurant in Japan. The decorations, the drawings and the settings were modern and elegant.
For starters, we ordered a couple of chicken skewers. The chicken was marinated well and the meat was quite soft. It was what we had expected. Yum!
We ordered a couple of sushi platters to share, and the varieties were definitely there. Great sushi starts with great rice and they got it right. The sashimi was also very fresh. We thoroughly enjoyed both the boat and the plate.
I was craving ramen, so I ordered a spicy miso ramen. I must say the moment the bowl of ramen was brought to our table, there was a very strong smell of sesame oil. I took a closer look at the bowl and saw the oil floating on top. What appeared to be a tasty broth was actually very salty. It left a funny taste in my mouth after. I was a little disappointed. The noodles however was perfect.
Well we were a little disappointed with the ramen, but overall the food was still good. The service was attentive. I will have to come back and try some of the other ramen.
