A new cafe has opened up on Magill Road, a couple doors down from The Little Eastern. It is situated on Magill Road, plenty of parking at the back or on the main road. The hung up wooden boxes on the front wall that consisted of fresh plants caught my eyes. Juniper is a modern Australian cafe with a European twist. The good thing about this cafe is that it opens during the day and also for dinner and they allow bookings. That is always a bonus. The seats were definitely very comfy and the cafe was very spacious.
A very simple menu with a few choices to choose from, ranging from eggs and mushrooms, to the more classic croque madame or croque monsieur. I noticed they also had pastries from Abbotts and Kinney. Great, now I know where to source more yummy pastries in this neighbourhood.
It wasn't a full house on the weekend, but the food still took a long time to arrive at our table. Croque madame filled the plate, a classic french dish. The egg had been slightly fried, drizzled with dijon mustard. It was also served with pickled vegetables on the side. The cheese was amazing.
The mushrooms arrived on a grilled piece of rye bread, it was slightly burnt on the under side. Mushrooms had a very strong smell of truffle, oh I love it when mushrooms meet truffle. It is the perfect combination, the breakfast plate had sprinkles of parmasean cheese, and the egg had been poached to perfection. Runny egg yolk onto a bed of truffle and mushrooms, it was deliciousness!! Again it was served with the same pickled vegetables.
Staff member was vey friendly and would love a chit chat. Juniper is a hidden gem in the burbs, another cafe to add to my breakfast and brunch list.
