Jasmin Indian

I can always smell curry every time I walk past Hindmarsh Square. I thought one day I must pay this restaurant a visit.  In fact I have been to Jasmin Indian a few times.  This is the only time I have had to sit outside.  Outside was a little confusing, because the seatings were below two different restaurants.  I accidently went up to the wrong waiter asking for my table, but it was for a completely different restaurant.  There are two entrances for Jasmin Indian, one on each side and another restaurant above ground in the middle.  It was rather confusing.  If you decide to dine at Jasmin's, I recommend making a reservation beforehand.

There was a good range of curry dishes to choose from.  We opted for the chicken and fish options.  The chicken was marinated well, as well as the fish.  Both dishes had mild sauces which blended quite well with herbs and spices.  They had interesting flavours.  We were a little disappointed with the naan breads, rather than being fragrant and fluffy, they were a little flat.  A few were overly burnt, we had to pick off the burnt bits on the undersides.  The basmati rice that was served lacked a little colour and consistency.  The rice in the middle or underneath was stuck together, and the flavours weren't at all there.

The highlight for the evening was the eggplant curry.  The aromatic spices were mixed in with the eggplant and onion.  It was unique and enjoyable to eat.

I have been to Jasmin Indian restaurant a few times, and there were times when it was really good.  Maybe tonight was just a miss, I would still recommend this restaurant to people who enjoy their spices and curry.
