Izukaya bars are getting more and more popular in Adelaide.  For those of you that are not familiar with the term 'Izukaya' it basically refers to Japanese bar that offers a bar for casual drinks and also sit down dining.  The location of this bar is on the busy Gouger Street surrounded by many eateries.  It was once the Celsius bar.  The decor hasn't changed much at all, it offers booths and communal seating, more of a contemporary dining setting.  With over 80 popular Japanese tapas to choose from, it will definitely take you some time to look through the menu.  The good thing about it is everything on the menu is $6.80.  Drinks and sashimi bowls are of course at a different price range.  I do like the idea of tapas, it just means you can order a lot of different dishes so you can share between a group of people.

The food came in a timely manner, one after the other, then altogether.  All I could say that the tables were no where near big enough to fit all the dishes that we ordered.  We had to stack the plates on top of each other and also behind where we were sitting inside the booths.

My favourite for the night was okonomiyaki, a Japanese savoury pancake with cabbages and octopus topped with bonito flakes.  Finally drizzled with okonomiyaki sauce and Japanese mayonnaise.

Some of the dishes were a little pricey for $6.80 but others were reasonable.  I think they needed more people working on the floor, it took a while before we got serviced.  In general, the quality of the food was above average and yes I would come here again.
