This cafe called Hopes and Beans is located on the busy Payneham Road. This cafe is quite unique, whereby it is an open area with a few tables and chairs, but off to the side are products for sale. There were plenty of old records I am sure if you have a record player....... you can probably find some goodies there.
We took the last table available, and the service was extremely friendly. The waiter took our order not long after. A simple one page breakfast menu which ranges from cold to hot food. I like.
We got there just before the lunch time rush, and the food took a long time to arrive at our table. I had almost finished my coffee before our food came.
We ordered a vegie bruschetta and an eggs florentine. The vegie brushetta was covered in rocket, although the menu did say spinach, there was not very many spinach leaves. However it was an amazing dish to have, because of the brie cheese. I never knew brie cheese would work so well with all the mushroom and tomatoes. This is one breakfast that I will keep coming back to.
I think the chef must have ran out with spinach, even the eggs florentine was covered in rocket. I opted the hollandaise sauce to be served on the side. Smoked salmon and perfectly poached eggs on a crunchy piece of bread. Hopes and beans offers homemade Turkish bread on their breakfast menu.
Good food take time to cook, even though the food took a long time to arrive at our table. We thought it was definitely worth the wait. As to why it's called Hopes and Beans? We were told that the business had been bought and they never changed it. The beans now refer to coffee beans. It does suit this little cafe, I like it.
