Burganomix

Burgers?? Is it the trend at the moment?? I certainly think so.   Burganomix has opened up at the end of Jetty Road in Glenelg.  It is an open cafe / restaurant with plenty of seating inside and outside.  You can take in the sunshine just by sitting there.  We were invited as guests to sample their menu on a beautiful hot summers night.

Jack - the owner of Burganomix has brought his passion and character to this establishment and I will tell you why.

There is certainly a big range of food to choose from.  It ranges from entrees to salads to different types of burgers.  We only had so much stomach room to try a few this time.

Onion rings were served in a box, and the batter was thin and crunchy.  Underneath the batter revealed a perfect slice of onion.  There was no oily after taste which was a bonus.

A lot of places serve chargrilled corn on a stick, more like a corn cob on a stick.  Burganomix offers corn sliced in smaller pieces which makes it much easier to eat.  A very tasty entree indeed.  We also tried some of the wings ordered by our fellow bloggers.  They were very saucy.  I think I prefer the smokey BBQ wings over the sweet chipotle ones.

We ordered a Tex Mex burger, wow! It was enormous, how am I going to eat this?  For me to rate a burger, firstly I look at the bun.  I had the choice of sesame, brioche, multigrain bun or wrap in lettuce.  I chose sesame bun.  When I have burgers, I am always afraid that the bun would be too sweet, well certainly not this one which was good.  Even with the fillings and sauces in the middle, the bottom half of the bun was not soggy.  Secondly, the fillings inside the bun -  patty which is made in house so the chefs know exactly what its made of.   Spanish onion, avocado, lettuce, hutney, chipotle peppers, oh how all those ingredients married together.  The only critisim I had was the sour cream, there was a little too much.  I would have liked a little more tomato in my tex mex burger.

The other burger we had was the Kung Fu Chook, yes all the burgers have names.  I normally don't have chicken in my burgers, but I thought I would give this one a go.  Just as well I did, it was delicious!  Chicken with slaw, coriander, Spanish onion, with ketcap manis, a very Asian inspired burger I think.  The best of all was that each burger comes with some sidewinders served on the side.  What are they?  They are spiral cut chips which are crunchy on the outside and delicate on the inside.  An excellent compliment to each burger.

I think Burganomix is onto something good.  It differentiates itself with

- Beer, including an extensive craft beer list

- milkshakes

- high quality ingredients

- interesting antique decorations

Speaking with Jack, he told us that he was very into his beers and you could tell that by the decorations on the wall.

Jack tells us of all his ideas, it's him and his brillant ideas that has this place started.  I can see this place growing.  Burganomix has got it right, with the friendly service and high quality food.  It certainly will attract a lot of customers.  We will surely be back to try out more from their menu.
