A lot of health conscious cafes are opening up. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a brilliant idea. Nutrition Republic is located on King William Road, and sells organic food and coffee. On weekends it is packed with people in their sports gear. Everything just looks so fresh and healthy. It ranges from granola with coconut milk to vege slices and salads to desserts like chia seeds pudding and cheesecakes.
It is rare to see coffee art on a piccolo latte. All the coffee is served in colourful cups or mugs. A very nice way to warm up from the cold mornings.
A simple vege slice contains a million goodies. I chose the one with zucchini, spinach and carrot. It is made of organic quinoa, pasture fed biodynamic eggs and served warm. The house made lemon and dill cashew cheese as a dipping sauce was amazing. I opted for the mediterranean salad on the side. A light but filling dish.
Paleo granola was definitely worth a mention. The granola in the bowl was even toasted, topped with fresh banana slices, strawberries and what I loved the most was coconut. On the side was warm coconut milk. Delicious!!
Last but not least, we just had to eat a slice of the lemon berry cheesecake. For those of you who love to bake, perhaps you can try making it yourself. Nutrition Republic has this recipe on their website. It has a coconut base, sweet berries balanced with the sourness of the lemon, just the perfect combination.
Nutrition Republic is one cafe that you can indulge from savoury to dessert, and leave without feeling too guilty. Everything is 100% gluten and dairy free.
