Manto Cafe Bar

There are plenty of cafes on The Parade in Norwood and Manto is one of them.  Manto is situated directly opposite to the Hoyts cinema, so it would be a good place to catch up before or after a movie.  I have been here once but only for coffee and cake.  This time we decided to dine in for dinner.

I found the decor inside the cafe a little strange, there was a lot of ancient lights amongst some modern features.  The chairs in the corners were slightly tall for the table, hence it felt a little uncomfortable sitting down.

Manto offers a range of Italian food.  The staff members were attentive all night.  First up was the Spaghetti Marinara, this dish lacked a little presentation and certainly looked like a rushed dish.  Prawns and calamari were mixed in with the pasta.  However I found it difficult to locate the crab meat as stated on the menu.

The trio of seafood consisted of prawns, calamari and garfish.  The prawns on the skewer were well cooked, however the garfish and the calamari had a strange taste to them.  Perhaps there was a little too much flour.

I was looking forward to the duck confit.  The duck legs arrived on some Asian salad.  The colours on the duck legs looked fine.  However the skin on the duck wasn't crispy.  The down side of this dish was the duck legs themselves.  They were a little overcooked and definitely lacked flavours.

To finish off the night, the owner offered us a variety of delicious cakes to share.

There are definitely a lot of competition between cafes on The Parade.  I was a little disappointed with the food that was served at the Manto Cafe.  Based on this note, I don't think I will be back in a hurry.
