The European Cafe is located on The Parade Norwood. It is a family business and has been around for a long long time. It is a great establishment with casual atmosphere, a lovely place to be catching up for a meal with a few friends.
An antipasto plate is always great for sharing, fresh olives, stuffed crab cakes, tomatoes, cheese and my favourite proscuitto.
Some tasty garlic bread too, crunchy on the outside and soft inside.
I have found another cafe which does authentic spaghetti marinara. It is equally as good as La Trattoria on King William Road. Spaghetti with prawns, squid, onion and garlic cooked with a touch of tomato. Simple but amazing.
A member of our group has always come here and every time she dines, she would order the calzone with no questions asked. I guess it must be very good. It is a great option if you want a change from eating a pizza. Imagine hot crunchy pizza dough stuffed with leg ham, cacciatore, mushrooms, olives, mozzarella and capsicum. Just the thought makes my mouth water, the tomato salsa is served on the side rather than poured on top. Therefore the crust stays crunchy rather than soggy.
The food is fresh and plentiful, if you are ready to try some authentic Italian cuisine then European Cafe is for you. I recommend booking as they are always busy.
