Minestra is a cafe located on the busy Churchill Road. Don't worry, there are plenty of parking spaces on the side street. It is a little cafe which offers a couple of tables for outdoor seatings and a few more inside. I noticed a little herb veggie garden at the front, so I thought hmmm I hope the ingredients will be fresh.
This is not a fancy cafe. The menus were up on the wall in the form of blackboards. We ordered a couple of coffees to begin with, it took a while before the coffee came, but when I looked they really do spend their time making the coffee right.
We waited over 30 minutes before the food came. I had a look around, there were not that many tables occupied but we arrived at the end of the lunch rush hour. I had even finished my coffee, my sister had to ask for take away as she had to get back to work. We patiently waited, hungry tummies. When the food finally arrived, we were rather pleased. Not only did it smell good, the salads were very fresh. It did look like it was just picked from the garden. One salad was with mushrooms slightly roasted. Delicious! The other was salmon pieces which were grilled. Both salads were served with a soft poached egg. It was one of the freshest and delectable salads I have had in a long time.
With the competition and the number of cafes around the Prospect suburbs, Minestra has great quality food. Really fresh!! If the food came in a more timely manner, it would have been easily four daisies. I will have to try this one again!
