The boss lady told me, this restaurant has been opened for two years,. It is located towards the city end of Unley Road. Nikitas restaurant serves traditional Greek food. First up I ordered the chargrilled octopus as my entree. I sliced through the octopus easily, the meat was so tender that it melted in my mouth. It didn't take long before I gobbled the octopus. The perfect kind of entree for me.
I can't go to a Greek restaurant without having souvlakia. Instead of ordering the main course size, I opted for the entree - chicken soulavkia. It consisted of chargrilled chicken, pita bread and tzatziki sauce.
My favourite mousaka came, layers of eggplants, zucchini and potatoes. I love my eggplants. In between the layers was bolognaise and it was topped with béchamel sauce. Everything just melted together, it was delicious! One of the best mousaka's I have ever had.
The signature dish was the baby goat. Now I don't eat these dishes often, so I had no idea what to expect. The baby goat was boneless and again the melt in the mouth feeling came back. The goat has been cooked slowly, apparently four hours with white wine and herbs. You could imagine how tasty the goat would be after soaking for this long.
Last but not least, dessert. My favourite greek dessert is loukoumades. These were honey puffs which had been lightly fried and sprinkled with honey and cinnamon. They were mouth watering good. I finished the bowl in no time. They were cooked to perfection.
Classic Greek cuisine, I would definitely recommend it if you are a big fan of Greek food.
