Baan Thai

We wanted to grab something quick before going to the movies, and we felt like eating Asian, especially in this freezing weather.  We drove by this Thai restaurant located on Magill Road.  I must say when we walked in there was not many people.  However it didn't take long before the restaurant was filled with patrons.  I have never been to Thailand before, but as soon as I walked into the restaurant, it felt like we were in Thailand.  It was highly decorated, it was an eye full.  The decorations ranged from statues to paintings to utensils.  It took me at least five minutes to look at all there was in the restaurant before I came to terms with the menu.

Tom Yum Goong soup was definitely worth a mention.  The intense flavours in the soup was just unbelievably great.  The sweet and the sour together , perfect way to open up my appetite.

We had the pandan chicken as a main with the steamed rice and the curry.  The meat was wrapped with crispy pandan leaves.  We unwrapped the leaves and the meat inside was tender, and tasty.  I could eat many more of these.

Next was the mild green curry with chicken, bamboo shoots and vegetables.  Again it was full of flavours and perfect match with some hot steamed rice.

This was right next to our table.  There were many of these around in the restaurant.  We had a great dining experience at Baan Thai, lovely atmosphere, friendly service and scrumptious food.
