Maxwell's Ellen Street Restaurant - A Revisit

Well if you think once is not enough, I went back there again for Mother's day!  There were different types of menu we could choose from.  It was either 2 course for $50, 3 course for $60 or the degustation 6 course for $70.  Guess which one I chose?  Yep, you got it, degustation again.  We had the whole afternoon, so why not?

Before we started, we went to taste more wine.  Thanks to Jeremy for taking us through the wines again.  Thanks for the complimentary bottle of red wine to enjoy with our meal. 

This time the food took longer to arrive at our table.  But nevermind it was worth the wait.

I am a big fan of mushrooms, all kinds of mushrooms.  Shitake is one of my favourite, the broth was absolutely amazing.  It was served in this petite glass.  I tasted the celeriac foam, then straight to the broth, yum!!  I wanted another one!!

The Zucchini flowers was beautiful just like last time.

Once again, the snapper was presented nicely and the colours just worked so well together.  This dish was ten out of ten.

I have had ox tongue before, but never like this.  I guess if you don't think about it and put it in your mouth it is not that bad.  It was just that when I looked closely I could see the nodules.  It was delicious though.  I finished it in no time.

The rib eye looked amazing, I couldn't wait to slice my knife through this big chuck of meat.  Oh dear, the veal was supposed to be cooked to medium, however mine was pretty much well done.  The flavours were there, mushroom sauce just topped it off.

My favourite panna cotta appeared on the menu again, could never turn dessert away.

Another beautiful afternoon well spent at one of my favourite dining places.  I will be back, as I forgot to get some of the meads.
