There is simply nothing like this cafe in the surrounding neighbourhood. Amongst all the houses down Battams Road, I finally arrived at this little cafe. There were plenty of parking spots on both sides of the street. I walked inside and was greeted by the friendly owner. There were just a few down lights, some tables and chairs with a simple menu on a blackboard. Who would have thought a little place like this would serve up some amazing food? I loved the idea of all day breakfasts. With the limited choices, it didn't take long before I knew what I wanted.
A hidden gem in the eastern suburbs!!
I was browsing through a few of the magazines on the side whilst waiting for my coffee. I took a sip and it was amazingly good.
The waffle with rhubarbs not only looked good, but tasted great. The waffle itself was light and crispy, the sweet and tangy sauce compensated the sweetness of the rhubarbs.
Poached eggs for the vegetarian breakfast were cooked to perfection, mushrooms and tomatoes were also tasty. The big breakfast was similar with the addition of bacon, mushrooms, sausages and beans. For the price it was definitely worth the money.
There was an open kitchen, so you could actually watch the chef cook. My highlight for the morning was the baked eggs with chorizo sausages. The eggs were beautifully cooked and OMG! The sauce was absolutely devine, it was the perfect tomato and capsicum salsa for me. I could not faulty this dish, it was one that I could have any day.
In my opinion, sometimes the decor or the menu do not have to be extravagant for the cafe to be highly rated. Royston Park Cafe can provide friendly service and food of high quality. This cafe has definitely made it to one of my favourites.
