La Trattoria

La Trattoria has been around for a long long time and after many years it still looks the same.  The restaurant was very busy, jam packed outside.  It was lucky we made a booking, otherwise we would have had to get take away.

We were seated down very quickly.  It was so crowded with hardly any room to move inside.  It was also very noisy.  Oh well, who cares we were there for the good food.  The menus have changed again, this time to a laminated sheet folded in threes, and yes of course the prices went up as well.  That didn't stop us from coming, as I know that one of my favourite items was still on the menu.  We ordered a half bottle wine to share, it was just enough.  The waitress who took our orders did not know much about the menu.  She had to keep running back and forth to find out more information.  Another observation was that she had long acrylic nails.  I didn't think that was professional enough in a restaurant.  I noticed the way she was holding the bowls with her long finger nails, she could have easily got food stuck underneath her nails whilst serving.

I could smell the freshness of the basil on the hot dough.  The tomatoes were sliced, topped with garlic and olive oil.  It was a great start to the meal.  In actual fact, it could well had been a meal itself.

Bruschetta

Bruschetta

The tastiest Spaghetti Marinara in town!!

I had to order my favourite, which was the Spaghetti Marinara.  It was still the same after many years, one of the very best!!  It was just so tasty, and literally full of seafood, tender calamari, prawns, mussels, scallops.  The spaghetti cooked into a rich tomato sauce, sprinkled with some cracked pepper, absolutely awesome.

The other pasta dish was the Spaghetti Cozze, another seafood one with mussels, black olives, capers and tomatoes.  It was full of flavours, only one mussel out of the ten didn't open.  Lucky these were entree size.  The servings were quite generous.  One thing I noticed was that we weren't given a bowl to put all our empty shells in.

There was one thing I didn't understand.  Why would there be a surcharge for using American Express card when the pocket that they gave to us to sign said American Express?

I quite like this restaurant, that's why we keep coming back.
