Last week, we decided to venture out of the city and try something different. I heard about this place from a work colleague. If you enjoy your meats, this place is a must visit one. In addition, the restaurant offers daily specials. Tuesdays - all you can eat parrilada for $30 per person. Wednesdays - buy one full priced main meal and receive second one half price, Thursdays - kids eat free under 12 from the kids menu.
This little restaurant has a few tables and chairs for outdoor sitting, however when we dined there, it was on a very warm night. We were seated inside. To my surprise, there were quite a few tables and chairs, of course with sufficient cooling. It was lucky that we made a booking. On a normal week night, the place filled up quickly. The interior of the restaurant had beautiful decor and a very homely feel. Yes they do provide cooking classes at a small cost. I haven't tried it myself but I am sure they would be very interesting.
On a nice warm night, there was nothing better to drink than some Sangria, a drink made of red wine, apples, oranges and lemon. It was very refreshing. Just the desserts and cakes themselves filled up two pages of the menu. Strangely enough, we all skipped the mains and flipped to the back of the menu to check out what we can have. It took us a while before we made up our minds.
We didn't know what to choose for the entree, so decided to have a mixed entree platter to get a feel of what Argentinian food was all about. There were savoury pastries, baked potato frittatas, spinach and cauliflower fritters, cold veal rolls , marinated eggplants, cheese balls. My favourite was the veal rolls. They were sliced thinly and the special herbs and spices just brought out the extra flavours of the meats.

One of the main courses was chicken breast. One thing that I am always afraid of when I eat chicken is that it could be overcooked. This chicken wasn't, it was so tender. The chicken was baked in a white wine sauce, served with the rice risotto, sautéed broccoli, bacon and cashews made this dish a tasty one. The chimichurri sauce was brought out to the table the same time as the chicken, but that was for the meats that were coming out later. They gave us two different ones, one being chilli for ones that liked the extra kick.
All the dishes were presented - not too fancy, the veal flank was very flavoursome. This dish is for those who want to experience traditional textures and flavours, and not suitable for the picky eaters, so they recommended. Once again, the veal was marinated so well that after one bite, I wanted more.
Seriously, we were full by the two courses. However, the next dish was well worth waiting for. If you like your meats, then I strongly recommend this dish. It came out on a bbq top with two coals underneath to keep it smoking throughout. There was a selection of meats, enough to share between two people. There was chorizo, pork, and lemon, worked extremely well with the chimichurri sauce. The meat was so tender, we left it to smoke for a while before continue eating, it gave the meats a smokey flavour which I loved.
In the middle of our meal, the music came on. Two pretty girls came out from no where and started dancing. Initially they were dancing outside of the restaurant, and we were asked to join. I think I was so full that I couldn't even move. I happily sat there and watched the girls dancing around for a good 10 minutes. I could see that all the cars that were going up and down Glynburn Road paused to see what the noise was about. I could also see the people peering through the blinds from the opposite church. After a few minutes, the girls started to venture inside to dance around our tables. It was like a free show, and yes if you like to dance the owners strongly would like you to get up and bust a few dance moves. Therefore as well as enjoying your nice dinner, you could have a little entertainment at the same time, why not?
No matter how full I was, there was always room to fit in dessert. A simple nice traditional churros topped off our night. They were the best churros I have ever had. They were so fresh, that it just melted in your mouth. The amount of cinnamon and sugar on them were perfect and the Belgian dipping chocolate was just devine.
One thing I do need to mention was that the food took a long time to arrive at our table, the service was great. At the end of the night Felicia and Karina, the mother and daughter of this restaurant came to greet every single one of us in the restaurant and asked how the food was. I think that's important, it's great to communicate with the customers. I had a great experience there and I will be back again.
