A few weeks back we decided to visit the Botanic Gardens restaurant. This restaurant is not easily seen on the main streets, it is located inside the Botanic Garden. There are plenty of signs around the garden to direct you. From the restaurant, there's 180 degree views of the gardens and ponds, a very tranquil environment indeed. We had made a booking previously and arrived there for Sunday breakfast. We arrived at the door of the restaurant and were welcome by a very friendly staff member whom kindly showed us to our table. Cappucino was nice and warm, it was Vittoria coffee. The food didn't take long to arrive at our table.
The mushrooms on the sourdough toast was sautéed. They were gigantic but were absolutely delicious, the goat's cherve was a little cheesy. The vine tomatoes were very sweet and certainly added to the excellent presentation to the dish.
The verde was a simple bacon and eggs. There were two fried eggs on grilled sourdough, topped with some herb salad and bacon rashers on the side. There was nothing spectacular about that dish.
Simple breakfasts in a tranquill setting!
However, my favourite one was the prawn omelette. Before I ordered this dish, I was thinking would it be too rich for breakfast? Well the answer was no. Not only the presentation of the dish looked amazing. The taste of the broth was very tantalizing. Together with the egg whites, snow pea tendrils with prawns. I thoroughly enjoyed that breakfast and I could have it any day.
All the fresh local ingredients were used, the good old Barossa Valley Bacon, or Woodside goat's cherve. However, I would like to see a little bit more on the menu. If one day you decide to wander through the beautiful Adelaide Botanic Gardens, I suggest you make a detour to this restaurant and give it a try.
