River Cafe

On a busy Friday night, we thought we will dine at one of our favourite restaurants again.  We made a booking a few hours before dinner and was offered a table near the window.

River Cafe is located on the floating pavillion on the famous River Torrens, with beautiful views of the river.  There is plenty of parking space outside the restaurant, so there is no need to worry about finding parks.

A world class dining experience

As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we were welcomed by a friendly staff member.  He has served us many times.  We were seated down at our table and was served by a waiter called Anthony.  A special mention to his professionalism and his service.  He explained every dish in detail,  and even told us how to cook eggplants properly.

The restaurant makes the bread themselves, and also the balsamic vinegar was also homemade.  The quality of the bread was so good.  It reminded of us when we were in Italy.  The menu itself was very Italian.

To start off our meal, we had potato and salt cod croquettes with chilli aioli and lemon, they were absolutely delicious. We could taste the cod within the croquettes. For main, we had Brodo di Mare which consisted of very fresh seafood, king prawns, bug tails, calamari, mussels, fish fillet cooked in a snapper broth which brought out the taste of the seafood even better.  The beef fillet was a piece of char grilled Limestone Coast beef with truffled mash, broccolini and balsamic glaze, cooked to my liking. On the side we had eggplant which was oven baked with tomato sugo, basil and asiago, we thought that was a perfect combination with the mains we ordered. There were chunks of eggplants which we loved.

To finish off, we ordered the specials which was panna cotta with pomegranate and fairy floss.  It was absolutely delicious.

We have been to this restaurant many times on several occasions and yet every time the standards were excellent.  We have enjoyed our dining experience every time and we will surely return for more. Can't wait until the festival of foods.

Adelaide certainly has some great restaurants around, this is one of them. This restaurant deserves 5 out of 5 daisies.
